Golf in County Cork

Overview

A golfer's guide to Cork

Cork is Ireland's second city and a gateway to two very different golf experiences. The Cork Golf Club at Little Island is an Alister MacKenzie design carved through an old quarry — close to the city and full of character. Old Head of Kinsale is the famous one: a clifftop parkland on a 220-acre promontory that drops 300 feet to the Atlantic on three sides. It's expensive and weather-dependent but unforgettable. Pair Cork with Kerry for the classic South West Ireland golf trip.
When to play

Best time to visit Cork

May–September for Old Head (it closes for winter). Cork city plays well year-round. Kinsale itself is one of the best food towns in Ireland — build dinner reservations in early.
