Golf in County Sligo
Overview
A golfer's guide to Sligo
County Sligo is home to Co. Sligo Golf Club at Rosses Point — Harry Colt's classic links and traditional host of the West of Ireland Championship. Strandhill adds a quirky, dune-strewn second course just down the road, and Enniscrone (technically across the Mayo border) is a 20-minute drive for a 27-hole day. Sligo is poet WB Yeats' country and the scenery between Knocknarea, Benbulben and the Atlantic is unforgettable.
Sligo town is the natural base — small, walkable and full of good food.
When to play
Best time to visit Sligo
May to early October. Sligo links play firm and fast in late summer. Visitor access at Co. Sligo Golf Club is generally good but specific weekend mornings are reserved for members; midweek is straightforward.
